Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos fronted a ska band in high school, and there’s video to prove it

Posted On Dec 28 2016 by

Angelakos was already a pretty solid frontman back then and even got the crowd   to let loose and skank. Check out some of that footage above, which shows him and Cherry Bing performing a gig at Amherst High School in 2002. In 1999, while attending high school school in Buffalo, New York, he founded a raucous ska band called Cherry Bing. Though a short-lived venture, footage of his time with Cherry Bing exists, giving fans a window into his pre-Passion Pit days, and shows just how music-oriented he was — no matter the genre — so early on. Angelakos …

As news broke of George Michael’s passing yesterday, tributes poured in. And then there was Smash Mouth. Christmas celebration in Sri Lanka accidentally distributes lyrics to Tupac’s “Hail Mary”

Posted On Dec 28 2016 by

Check out a picture of the botched Christmas program below, followed by Tupac’s version of “Hail Mary”. Churchgoers in Sri Lanka recently attended one of the largest Christmas celebrations in the world, the 2016 Catholic Joy to the World Festival. As The Independent points out, the major holiday mix-up was the result of incorrectly printed church music programs, which were then distributed to the congregation. However, instead of honoring baby Jesus and his mother Mary, as most do, they accidentally found themselves paying tribute to late hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur. Rather than the sacred “Hail Mary” prayer, the lyrics of …

Britney Spears isn’t dead, despite claim from hacked Bob Dylan Twitter account

Posted On Dec 28 2016 by

Britney is fine and well. It may be connected to OurMine, a group of hackers claiming to be a security organization. OurMine hacked into the Los Angeles Dodgers official Twitter account over the weekend, and last week they also victimized the accounts of NFL Networks, Marvel, and Netflix. Reporters from CNN have confirmed that pop star Britney Spears is alive and well after Sony Music’s Twitter account posted two tweets claiming she had died. The tweets, which have since been deleted, read, “RIP @britneyspears #RIPBritney 1981-2016” and “Britney spears is dead by accident! We will tell you more soon #RIPBritney.” …

Sarah Michelle Gellar confused Boy George with George Michael

Posted On Dec 28 2016 by

But unlike most others, Sarah Michelle Geller has an audience of 500,000 Twitter followers to screen grab her goof and spread it viral. Lesson learned. Upon realizing   her mistake, Gellar opted for the “Of course I know the difference” defense and then shamed those who called her out by tweeting, “This is usually why I don’t comment on public matters.” At least she can take stock in knowing Smash Mouth made an equally egregious   faux pas. Then again, only one guy has a giant peace sign tattooed on the side of his head. In Buffy’s defense, Boy George …

Carrie Fisher had just one request for her obituary (that we report she was strangled by her own bra)

Sharon Jones in November. Update – December 27th: In the wake of George Michael, Carrie Fisher, and other recent …

“They talk about how diverse they are, and things like that, and it’s fine if you’re diverse like them. Cool. Metallica’s James Hetfield recently relocated from California’s sunny Bay Area to the snowy mountains of Colorado, but weather had nothing to do with it. They’re very into, ‘Oh, you like doing that? “Some of the gun laws definitely don’t make any sense,” he admitted. “There was just a… I don’t know… I felt that there was an elitist attitude there — that if you weren’t their way politically, their way environmentally, all of that, that you were looked down upon,” …
