Ridley Scott unveils gripping first trailer for Alien: Covenant — watch

Posted On Dec 25 2016 by

Watch the trailer above and mark it: Alien: Covenant lands May 19, 2017. So, his inclusion should be interesting. In space, no one can hear you scream, but at home, everyone can. As one might have expected, it’s filled with the type of extraterrestrial malaise that the director trademarked, oh, nearly 40 years ago. Let’s not forget that Pearce played the now-deceased billionaire CEO Peter Weyland. The place looks like an uncharted paradise to everyone, but naturally, there are some nasty surprises in store, from icky little critters to one familiar face in the form of Michael Fassbender’s “synthetic” meanie David. The sequel …

SOHN shares atmospheric title track to forthcoming album Rennen — listen

Posted On Dec 24 2016 by

That room has resulted in some of SOHN’s most musically adventurous and atmospheric work to date, if the album’s title track is any indication. The last several years have been an exhausting time for the English songwriter and producer, who pulled up roots from Vienna and relocated in Los Angeles without giving himself much time for reflection. Listen in to “Rennen” below. Photo by Phil Knott There’s a reason we haven’t heard much from SOHN since his   2014 album Tremors. SOHN’s forthcoming album, Rennen, acknowledges the breakneck pace of his life (the title means “run” in German) while giving …

Mick Jenkins and Kaytranada light up the sky on new collaborative song “Aurora Borealis” — listen

Posted On Dec 24 2016 by

Take a listen below. On debut album The Healing Component, Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins tapped beatmaker Kaytranada for assistance. Taken from a new compilation titled 119 Presents: Countdown to Midnight, the track glows and flows coolly like the Arctic-loving Northern Lights for which its named. This week, the two continue their studio chemistry with a fresh joint called “Aurora Borealis”. It was a smart move, considering the Montreal producer’s own 99.9% LP is one of the best of the year.

Cass McCombs made his TV debut on The Ellen Degeneres Show — watch

Posted On Dec 24 2016 by

Watch the performance above. Along with a four-piece band, McCombs offered a lovely rendition of “Bum Bum Bum,” the first track from Mangy Love, which he dropped in August. Well, here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write: The elusive, impenetrable California singer/songwriter Cass McCombs   was on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show this morning. I doubt anyone would peg Degeneres a Wit’s End fan, but her live intro is fawning and her website cites McCombs as “one of Ellen’s favorite artists.” Too bad he didn’t show off his tea blowing skills. McCombs has long been a cult favorite, as …

As they did at Iceland Airwaves in November, the dream pop purveyors offered up an enthralling and memorable performance. Replay it up above. In the last two months, lead single “New Song” was reworked not once, but twice   — first by Mike D of the Beastie Boys, then by Belgium’s Soulwax. SNL’s Kate McKinnon reprises Hillary Clinton, goes Love Actually on an electoral college member — watch

Replay   one of the highlights from tonight’s SNL Christmas episode below. The electoral college is all   that stands between humanity’s long-term survival   and Donald Trump becoming the 45th president of the United States. In a   sketch parodying Love Actually’s famous cue card scene, the Democratic presidential candidate shows up at an elector’s door and makes her last-minute pitch. While it’s unlikely there are enough faithless electors to change the result of the election, it hasn’t stopped Kate McKinnon — er, Hillary Clinton from trying.
